Who we are

Mooviemakers (“we”, “us”) is an animation studio based at 1 Overleigh Road, Handbridge, Chester CH4 7HL, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at [email protected] or on 0800 138 1130.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through mooviemakers.co.uk and in the course of working with clients, how we use it, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

The information we collect

Information you give us

  • Enquiry and contact forms: your name, email address, and anything you include in your message (such as a phone number, company name or project details).
  • Newsletter signup: your email address.
  • Booking a call: if you book through the Calendly scheduler on our contact page, Calendly collects your name, email address and chosen time on our behalf.
  • Direct contact: anything you send us by email or tell us by phone.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site as a whole, such as which pages are viewed, roughly where visits come from and how people found us. It uses cookies and your IP address, and reports to us only in aggregate. See “Cookies” below.
  • Business visitor identification: we use Leadinfo, which uses your IP address and cookies to estimate which organisation (not which individual) is visiting our site, so we can understand the businesses interested in our work. See “Cookies” below.
  • Embedded content: when you play a video (hosted by FrameRate), use the Calendly scheduler or interact with the Google map on our contact page, those providers may set cookies and receive your IP address. They only do this when you interact with their content.

How we use your information, and why we are allowed to

  • Answering enquiries and providing our services, including writing your free script: performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before a contract.
  • Sending the newsletter: your consent. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Understanding which businesses visit our site and improving it: our legitimate interest in marketing our services to other businesses.
  • Preventing spam and abuse: our legitimate interest in keeping our forms usable (form submissions are screened by Akismet).
  • Keeping records we are legally required to keep (for example invoicing): legal obligation.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf under contract: our website hosting provider, our email delivery provider, Calendly (scheduling), Leadinfo B.V. (business visitor identification), Automattic (Akismet spam filtering), Google (analytics and the map on our contact page) and FrameRate (video hosting). We share only what each provider needs to do its job. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

International transfers

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the EU and the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations or the appropriate safeguards required by UK law (such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum).

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries: for as long as we are discussing or delivering your project, and up to two years after our last contact so we can pick up where we left off.
  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.
  • Client and financial records: six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required by UK law.

Cookies

Browsing this site does not require an account. Analytics and visitor-identification cookies (Google Analytics and Leadinfo) are only set if you accept them via the cookie banner shown on your first visit; decline and neither is set. Your choice is remembered in a single functional cookie for a year, and you can change it at any time via the “Cookie choices” link in the footer. Separately, embedded services (the FrameRate video player, the Calendly scheduler and Google Maps) may set cookies when you interact with their content. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site works without them.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for access to your personal information, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our use of it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve the issue first.

Children

Our services and this website are aimed at businesses and are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and reputable providers. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable care and expect the same of our processors.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged on this page.
