Charity videos that turn awareness into action
Fundraising appeals, service explainers and internal films for charities and not-for-profits. Told with dignity, built to be accessible, priced openly.
Three audiences, one budget
Charity communications is several jobs at once. The same small team has to move donors, reach the people the service exists for, keep staff and volunteers pointing the same way, and show funders where the money went. Usually that is one or two people doing all of it, with every pound spent held up to scrutiny. Video has to work harder here than almost anywhere else.
Animation earns its place for reasons that matter specifically to charities. It tells a true story without putting a real, often vulnerable person on camera, so there are no consent forms, no safeguarding risk and no one recognisable in a film that will run for years. It is accessible by design: captions are standard, built to make sense with the sound off, with room for a BSL inset and straightforward to translate. And because it is drawn rather than filmed, it can be updated when your strategy, statistics or branding move on, instead of being reshot.
We have made videos for charities since our first year in 2012, from Shelter and the British Heart Foundation to Saint Francis Hospice, the Royal Association for Deaf People and Brake. Fundraising appeals, strategy launches, safety campaigns and service explainers: different jobs, same starting point of a free script and a fixed price.
Best for
“Mooviemakers produced an animation for our charity to launch our new strategy in a different and more inclusive way. They were professional, worked efficiently and communicated well throughout. I would recommend them.”

Charity video questions, answered
Do you offer a charity discount?
No. Charities pay the same published prices as everyone else. What does help is that the script is free, so you see what we would make before committing anything, and revisions are unlimited, so changes from trustees or a committee do not add to the bill. You also get the video in whatever lengths and ratios you need, so an appeal film works on social and at events without paying for another edit. If you have a set budget, tell us on the first call and we will tell you what it buys.
Can you tell a real person’s story without putting them on camera?
Yes, and it is one of the strongest reasons charities come to us. Animation lets you tell a true story faithfully without a recognisable face, a consent form for someone vulnerable, or a safeguarding risk that outlives the campaign. It also means the film does not date when that person moves on, and nobody has to relive their situation on camera to help you raise money.
Can the video be made accessible?
That is the default here, not an upgrade. Captions come as standard, the story is built to land with the sound off, and we keep language plain rather than clever. We can leave space in the frame for a BSL inset, supply clean versions for translation or subtitles in other languages, and keep contrast and pacing sensible for anyone reading rather than listening. We have made this work for the Royal Association for Deaf People, whose requirements are more specific than most.
Our sign-off goes through trustees or a committee. Is that a problem?
No, it is normal, and the process is built for it. Approvals are staged: script, then storyboard, then animation, each signed off in writing before the next begins. Because revisions are unlimited, a committee changing its mind at script stage costs you nothing but a little time. The expensive version is approving a script nobody read and rewriting the finished animation, which is exactly what the staged process avoids.
What can we use one video for?
An appeal page, your homepage, social cutdowns in every ratio, a screen at a fundraising event, a volunteer induction, a funder or impact report. Tell us the list at script stage and the deliverables are agreed up front rather than discovered later, which is also how you avoid paying twice for what is essentially the same film.
We have a campaign date. Can you hit it?
Usually, if you tell us early. Most charity videos take two to six weeks depending on the tier, assuming feedback comes back promptly from your side, and campaign deadlines are the one thing worth flagging on the first call rather than the third. If the date is genuinely immovable and tight, we will say so before you commit rather than after.

“We are extremely impressed with Mooviemakers’ creativity and approach. As one of the leading organisations working with deaf people in the UK we have very specific requirements, but have always found Mooviemakers to be patient, flexible and very pleasant to work with. We are always really pleased with the end result, and will definitely use again.”
